Liposomal, a term you come across more and more often. More and more often you read that you should opt for supplements with a liposomal effect. But what does that mean and why should you choose it? Food supplements must have a certain dose in order to work. But if you take an 'ordinary' supplement, a large part of it is lost in your digestion, especially because your stomach acid breaks it down. It's the liposomes that prevent this.
Liposomal food supplement
In liposomal food supplements, the vitamins (or other active substances) are packed in tiny fat-like spheres: liposomes. A beautiful technique in which the contents are protected against degradation by gastric acid. In the form of a liposome (membrane) your body recognizes it as a body's own cell and absorbs it much better and spread over a longer period of time. In short: by encapsulating it, adverse influences of the digestive process are bypassed and it guarantees a high absorption. An additional advantage is that you do not have to take in huge amounts, because hardly anything is lost. If you can get a liposomal version of a supplement, always choose one. Liposomal products are a bit more expensive than the regular ones, but that more than pays off, because it works much more effectively.
